Why do we require fire safety training…?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states all staff should receive basic fire safety induction training and attend a refresher session at pre-determined intervals.

BS 9999:2008 Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings states:

“Fire safety training should be continuous, commencing with induction training on the first day of appointment of new staff and continuing in the form of regular refresher training by a competent person.

Thereafter, staff should receive sufficient training at regular intervals (at least once a year) to make sure that they remain familiar with the fire precautions for the workplace and are reminded of the action to be taken in an emergency. Training should be more frequent where there is a high turnover of staff or where there is a high risk of fire”

We offer 3 levels of training to suit most premises staff training requirements and budgets.

	Staff Training Demonstration We offer basic training on your premises’ relevant fire extinguishers, by way of a talk and demonstration of each piece of equipment in a suitable location outside. There are no limits on the number of staff attending. Sessions are tailored to suit your requirements, lasting up to 30 minutes to minimise disruption to your staff’s working day and cost £129.00 +vat per session This includes the cost of the extinguisher refills used – Water, Water additive, Co2, Foam and ABC Powder and a live fire practical can be included at additional cost if required. 	Fire Safety Awareness with “Hands on” Practical Extinguisher Training Our Fire Safety Awareness course is suitable for all members of staff and includes the following: The RRFSO 2005 – The law, Fire Risk Assessments and your duty of care The Fire Triangle Causes of fire Fire Prevention and precaution measures in your premises Regular Daily and Weekly Fire Safety Checks Action on discovering a fire Classification of fire Types of extinguishers and their suitability for specific fire risks British Standard/European fire safety signage legislation DVD “Fire safety for Industry” or as your premises Questions and Answers Followed by a live fire practical training session in the use of Portable Extinguishers on different types of fire risk giving staff invaluable “Hands on” experience (Suitable outdoor clothing should be worn by staff). A course for up 15 people lasts 1½ - 2 hours and costs £299.00 + vat per course

	Fire Marshall / Warden Training As the Fire Safety Awareness with “Hands on” Practical Extinguisher Training with the following additional content tailored to suit your fire marshaling and premises requirements: Fire Marshall / Warden Duties Record keeping and liaising with Enforcing Authorities Emergency Procedures, Plans and Evacuation Procedures Human behavior Fire Risk Assessment Reviewing – spotting and reporting fire hazards Site Walk about and 15 minute break/discussion A course for up to 12 people lasts 3 hours and costs £399.00 + vat per course Add an additional £24.00 +vat per person for people attending above course numbers stated Additional Fire Safety Training packs are available at a cost of £11.00 + vat each Refresher training, training equipment hire and trainer day rates available on request If you require more than one training course in a day we can run back to back courses or fit Staff Training Demonstrations around any course discounting the costs accordingly. 	Cost effective training - Why pay twice! Most staff training courses or the demonstration of equipment can be planned in advance or coincide with the annual servicing of your extinguishers due to them requiring regular test discharging and recharging under British Standards. Rather than the engineer just discharge testing and recharging your premises extinguishers during the annual service visit and putting them back into service, your staff can benefit by having the equipment demonstrated to them by the engineer or gain first-hand experience by discharging them themselves under the engineer’s supervision.
